Mask + Acne = Mascne. In March lives were forever changed by a virus called Covid-19, and with that came wearing a mask to protect ourselves and others from possible bacterial harm. Wearing a mask is hard on your skin because we’re blocking the skin from oxygen and increasing your risk of breakouts. This also increases the heat and humidity around your face which in turn increases inflammation that will make acne worse.

To prevent breakouts wear your mask when it’s necessary, avoid wearing makeup when wearing a mask (I will not be wearing makeup for a while because of this), still continue with washing your face twice a day and washing or changing out your mask every day, and we have some great products to help get you through this.

Here are our recommendations:

  • Acne Cleansers – We have a variety of acne cleansers that are sure to clear skin up in no time. We suggest Clear As Day Milk Cleanser for those of you with dry skin, skin will be clear and hydrated. Let’s Be Clear Here is for oilier skin, heals and prevents future breakouts. Our Detox Deep Pore Cleansing System will dissolve stubborn pore impurities and dirt hiding in pores, fight acne-causing bacteria with non-irritating herbal extracts, and prevent breakouts and soothes inflamed and irritated skin.

  • Spot Treatments – Clear It Blemish Control Gel targets bacteria and helps regulate oil production without drying out or damaging healthy skin. You can use this product twice a day without drying out your skin.

  • Masks – Will Dew® Organic Probiotic Milk Balancing Mask combines powerful healthy bacteria (both prebiotics and probiotics) to heal breakouts and irritations. Our Detox Clay Mask will purge pores and is a fast-acting solution for breakouts, this product can be layered on top of Clear It at night and you’ll see a significant reduction in acne and inflammation in the morning.

  • Serums – Rehab Acne Healing Serum helps clear active acne breakouts, soothes redness and irritation, and conditions and prevents future breakouts. Absorb Mattifying Serum will hydrate and control excess oil production.

Moisturizers – Make Amends Night Cream supports skin healing and repair, detoxifies pores and battles acne-causing bacteria, and soothes redness and irritation.

We also want to remind you to wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face. This of course should have always been done before Covid-19 struck but this is a great reminder. Also remember to clean your cell phone frequently. It’s important to change your pillowcases daily if you are struggling with acne that covers 50% or more.

We would also like to encourage you to reach out to us if you are having any skincare issues, by doing this we can prevent your skin issues from getting worse. Please book an Advance Custom Facial treatment and we can specifically address your acne issues.
